C needs namespaces.

dear C standard committee,

please consider adding a lightweight namespace/module mechanism to C............

C's simplicity is one of its biggest strengths, but large projects and libraries often have to simulate namespaces through naming conventions: 


    foo_create()
    foo_destroy()
    foo_parse()
    foo_utils_...

THIS works, but it becomes increasingly cumbersome as projects grow.. i DISLIKE that.

i'd love to see a namespace system that:

  • keeps C's existing simplicity
  • provides actual identifier organization
  • works cleanly with headers and separate compilation
  • doesn't require C to adopt C++-style complexity
  • remains fully backwards-compatible with existing C code

it ABSOLUTELY doesn't need to be fancy. i really just want to be able to organize related APIs without putting the entire library name into every identifier. . . . .

please. i am begging. 🙏🥺

being imitated is weird

i LOVE it when my friends pick up little things from me.

like a word i use a lot, a weird typing habit, a particular way i react to things, or some random mannerism that somehow becomes part of THEIR vocabulary TOO.

honestly? it's FLATTERING. it means i've influenced someone enough that something i do stuck with them.

BUT.

THERE is a POINT where I START HATING IT.

because: sometimes, i don't want my little quirks to stop feeling like MINE.

i like recognizing my own weird, little mannerisms and thinking "yeah, that's SUCH a MEEEE thinggggg!!"

AND THEN SOMEONE ELSE STARTS USING THE SAME EXPRESSIONS AND suddenly i'm sitting there like:

WAIT. that is MY thing.

and I DO KNOW that is irrational because nobody owns a word or a typing style. i DO know that people naturally pick things up from their friends. that's literally how people influence each other.

i think what bothers me isn't really the copying itself.

it's the feeling of becoming ordinary.

i like feeling distinct. i like having little things that make me feel recognizable as me. so when someone starts picking up enough of those things, part of me worries that the things that made me feel unique aren't unique anymore.

which is especially funny because i LOVE knowing that i INFLUENCE people.

JUST... NOT ENOUGH, to make me feel replaceable.

I'M SOOOOOOOOO into OMORI. like, please.. i won't stop making omori references here and there.. but, SERIOUSLY. here are my interests: programming, software development, making random little projects, music, piano, games, judo, linguistics, languages, psychology, analyzing things, and just learning how stuff works in general!! i genuinely like learning and experimenting with things, even if i have absolutely no idea what i'm doing at first.. and, uhhh, yeah! OMORI too. obviously.

OKAY. the PRIMARY INFORMATION (a.k.a. the MOST important info) I USUALLY INFORM PEOPLE OF IS THAT: i'm a hungry person; therefore, buy me FOOD or i will feed you to my dogs and cat. jokes aside, i am aware that i am extremely observant. so, HOLD ON!!! that does NOT mean i am NEGATIVELY JUDGEMENTAL. it more appropriately means that i tend to question things i don't understand!!! (like my homework) and, uhhh, hmmmm... yeah! i ran out of words right now, and i guess that's a characteristic; a valid one!

What do you do in your free time?

UHHH.. i mostly spend my free time doing absolutely NOTHING PRODUCTIVE. i just wanna play games with my friends and code whatever the heck enters my thought process. I HATE DOING THINGS I HATE, such as: assignments, homework, projects, etc. chores are fine.. they help me regain my cutesy sanity :3

I'M TRYING TO LEARN AND IMPROVE AT EVERYTHING!!! and by everything, i mean basically everything listed in my interests and hobbies. i wanna keep learning, experimenting, and getting better at the things i enjoy, even if i'm absolutely terrible at them right now!! ok done

What makes someone unique?

UHHH. something UNIQUE that is applicable into things... is YOUR identity. your voice, your tone, your mannerisms, everything about you... they tell others that it's YOU! no one is exactly "the same"!! in fact, everyone is unique. think about it! the way your eyes shine when you laugh, the specific warmth you bring into a room, or how you carry a universe of silent battles and beautiful memories inside you that no one else will EVER fully understand. YOU, yes, YOU, are a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence in this universe. the world has been around for billions of years, but it has never seen your kind of magic before, and it never will again. so please, DON'T ever hide it! (❁´◡`❁)

and honestly, i think identity is kinda interesting because you don't always have to TRY to show people who you are. sometimes, you just.. do! the way you type, the words you use, the things you notice, the things you care about, the things you find funny, even the random little habits you don't think twice about.. they're ALL little pieces of you!

you COULD.. try to imitate someone else perfectly, but you'd still be yourself while doing it, RIGHT?? isn't that kinda weird? maybe being unique isn't about finding the ONE thing that nobody else has. maybe it's about the fact that nobody else can be you in exactly the same way that you are!

in conclusion: anything about you, fits right, and it will always will!

  • i can be pretty impulsive, occasionally. my brain presses "send" before the thought fully loads! i AM aware of this and actively trying to improve; "think twice before acting" alone does not magically fix impulsiveness.
  • i often need DIRECT communication; hints are not always detected by my brain. this also applies to everyone else—not everyone will understand hints, so please communicate clearly. communication is literally the KEY.
  • i can be a tad bit silly, sometimes. expect random jokes, weird comparisons, and questionable humor!!
  • i can enter "analysis mode" and overthink situations a TON. if i ask many questions about something, i'm probably trying to understand it rather than start an argument. in fact, i hate petty arguments, quarrels, and unnecessary drama.
